HPI Names Don Haines as Director of Operations & Maintenance Services
HPI announced today that it has named Don Haines as Director of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Services. He will be responsible for overseeing all operations and maintenance related services performed by the company.
Don comes to the company from Wood Group Power Plant Services where he was the Facility Manager at the Panoche Energy Center. During his five-year tenure, Haines led a cross-functional team in successfully monitoring the final construction and startup commissioning activities for a state-of-the-art 400 MW GE LMS100 gas turbine power plant. Haines’ responsibilities also included developing and implementing all site specific operating procedures and training the staff to achieve greater than 98% availability with greater than 20,000 fired hours of combined runtime.
Prior to Wood Group, Haines spent 17 years working for the City of Santa Clara Electrical Department in California, including his last role as the Senior Division Manager of Generation Operations and Maintenance. In this position, Haines’ responsibilities included the commissioning, start up and facility management of a newly built 2X1 148 MW combined cycle power plant. He also developed and trained technicians on all system operating procedures, created operating and capital budgets, and managed major engine repairs and overhauls for GE LM6000 PC and Rolls Royce (Allison) 501-KB5 gas turbines.
Before entering the private sector, Haines was an esteemed member of the United States Navy, where he completed several training courses in electricity, turbines, electrical governors and auxiliary equipment.
Haines is a former board member of the Western Turbine Users Group, where he was the chairperson for the LMS100 fleet group for over five years.
