HPI has a long and successful track record of providing turbine control systems and maintenance services for marine rotating machinery and propulsion control systems. Reflecting the extensive marine experience now present at HPI, our core team was formed in 2002 when Vosper Thornycroft Controls (VTC), a UK based shipbuilding company, withdrew from the US market to focus on the shipbuilding industry in the UK. Prior to that time, many from our team were engineers and managers of Hawker Siddeley Dynamics Engineering (HSDE). HSDE was the primary designer and provider of shipboard machinery control and surveillance systems to the UK Ministry of Defense and the Royal Navy prior to VTC’s acquisition of HSDE in the mid 90’s.
This deep background in marine systems enables HPI to supply digital control systems, which are designed for easy retrofit onto existing units and are robust enough to withstand the test of time and the harshest of environments.

- The control system checks for dormant failures by continually monitoring the GT transducers even when the turbine is stopped. The operator is warned of the pre-start impending failure(s) and so can correct the problem(s) prior to starting. This would provide a consistent, repeatable and reliable start, and continuous operation.
