HPI specializes in providing retrofit controls for gas and steam turbine power generation, compressor, and mechanical drive systems by designing, assembling, testing and packaging replacement systems using any one of six high speed, state-of-the-art, off-the-shelf Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). HPI accomplishes this mission by utilizing an experienced management and technical staff, with a cumulative experience record spanning more than 175 years.
PLC Turbine Governing Capabilities
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) perform the entire necessary turbine governing & associated plant-sequencing functions during turbine start-up, power generation, & shutdown. Turbine operations include motoring (cranking), ignition & firing, acceleration, speed governing &, kW limiting.
The PLC provides two separate and distinct types of control:
- closed loop governing
- turbine and plant sequencing
Ladder logic application programs will be configured to provide the same or similar functions as an existing relay control system. The software also provides alarm and shutdown monitoring of all signal transducers and sequence alarms. This strategy provides for the safest operation as well as protecting against exceeding the turbine operating parameters.
OEM Programmable Logic Controls Supply
HPI also provides new and comprehensive gas and steam turbine power generation, compressor, and mechanical drive control systems for original engine or package manufacturers, again using high speed Programmable Logic Control (PLC) technology, such as Allen Bradley's ControlLogix® PLC.
Demolition, Installation and Commissioning Services
In addition to assembling and packaging PLC retrofit control systems that the market requires, HPI supplies high quality installation and commissioning of the complete system. If required HPI will also demolish and remove from site the old control system, saving items for spares where applicable.
