HPI Names John Ballentine as Director of Cyber Security and Compliance

HPI announced today that it has named John Ballentine as Director of Cyber Security and Compliance. Ballentine will assist HPI customers by helping to reduce their cyber security risk in their industrial control system environments, and will also help cultivate a program to identify, manage and mitigate compliance and regulatory risks associated with operating energy assets in regulated markets.

John comes to the company with over 20 years of experience in compliance within the energy industry, including his most recent role at Wood Group. During his tenured career, John has managed cyber security and compliance at over 40 power generation and transmission facilities in North America, and international locations including Italy, Ireland and the Middle East.

After several dozen compliance audits at his facilities, John has never had a deficiency finding, which has resulted in regulators citing his program as the ideal model for industry to follow.

Ballentine’s leadership was recognized by industry when he was elected to the Board of Directors for the North America Generator Forum, representing over 200 power generators; and also by the United States government, where John serves as a first responder for the country’s Department of Homeland Security Cyber Emergency Response Team.

In 2014, John completed the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Compliance Academy, and led the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Active Defense Team.

Aside from his esteemed experience, John is possesses a full set of recognized credentials: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Information Law Specialist (GLEG), and Certified SCADA Security Architect (CSSA).
